Fleur de Lys in Paris

Overview

Bedrooms 1 Sleeps 5 Bathrooms 1.0 Type Studio Min. Stay 1 Night

Description

The Petit Pont (the one nearest to you) dates from the time well before Christ, back to Neolithic time of hunters and gatherers, the ancestors of Paris, around 4,000 years before Christ. Le Petit Pont remained the only bridge of Paris for 12 centuries, of course, many times destroyed by wars and reconstructed on the same location because the river is at its narrowest cross over in Paris. I could write a book of kings, emperors, poets and artists who walked, strolled, dreamed and lived around your apartment Fleur-de –Lys.

Fleur-de -Lys is named because of the royal seal embedded in the wall, since around 1320. The royal seal depicts the Fleur-de -Lys which is the symbol of all French Kings. The apartment is located in one of the oldest street of Paris, when Paris was only about 350 houses! In more recent history, Napoleon lived in the next door building, between 1794-1795. Fleur-de-Lys is on the first floor (easy for your knees with luggage!) with high ceiling and beans and 3 windows over a quiet courtyard. The double bed is in the main room surrounded by wall mirrors and an epoch chandelier. There is a double size bed in the small bedroom and a beautiful antique Paris map. The kitchen is fully equipped, so is the bathroom, with a bathtub (rare in the center of Paris)<

The street is `pedestrian only` lined by restaurants, bakeries, shops. You will be close marche Maubert the oldest street market in Paris, established in 1547. Marché Maubert is open Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. But, do not be late as the stalls will close by 2:30 or 3:00pm and you will not find the sumptuous stacks of artichokes, leeks, and carrots, cheeses , flowers, rugs, pashminas, fromage, fleur de sel, textiles from Provence, meats, seafood, carry out food (prêt à emporter) to east “sur le pouce”

This location is by far, far more history-packed than anywhere in Paris, every inch will tell you an inspiring story.
