Traviata Loft in Paris

Property ID : 11592

Bedrooms 2 Sleeps 5 Bathrooms 2.0 Type Studio Min. Stay 1 Night

Blessed with 3 tall windows, La Traviata Loft dates back to the 13th century. The windows look onto a quiet courtyard, wall-to-ceiling mirrors surrounds a decorative fireplace and an elegant, master, king-size bed. There is a mezzanine with another full size bed. <
Located on the second floor, (easy on your knees!) the ceiling is over 13 feet high with authentic wooden beams which give a majestic feeling to the space (inspired by the setting of Verdi famous Opera `La Traviata` (circa 1850s). The kitchen is equipped with cooking plates, pots & pans, microwave, coffee maker and a fridge. There is a bathtub in the bathroom. For those who want to experience a sample of romantic Bohemian Paris, La Traviata is the best studio we offer in the center! For those who really want to sample all the style, history, and flavor of Paris, LA TRAVIATA studio will be like one's most romantic fantasy of Paris come true!<
La Traviata Loft is 100 steps from the River Seine and Notre-Dame de Paris, located in the historic heart-of-the-heart and loveliest location in the Latin Quarter! A walk at midnight over the magic bridges will allow you to soak-in the essence of Paris, then walk safely home after dark, with all the tourists strolling around the restaurants. The street is `pedestrian only` lined by restaurants, bakeries, shops and a 2-minute walk from Place Maubert with its famous French food market, flowers, bakeries, cheese, pate, wine...You will be within walking distance of all major sites seeings and save on transportation. AS FOR THE SECOND HIDDEN SAVINGS, our studio is a short walk from one of the largest gourmet supermarket in Paris, the only one open until midnight. You will find great French food, wines, breads, and cheeses at rock-bottom prices.<

You will appreciate La Traviata Loft's space and history; with it 13 feet high ceiling with apparent wooden beams, its master massive beam (tested with C14) dates from the 13th century! Thus it is likely to have been taken from another building at the time Notre-Dame de Paris was built, as log beams were cut with axes and by hand and where precious.<
We won the bid to acquire La Traviata after great pain, against a British Corporation who had set an eye on her at any price, you can imagine! The `bidding-war` lasted for a year.<
Then, we spared no expense to re-shape the space, as you would to an artistic sculpting, we wanted the simple act of moving around trigger different sense of perspective and warp the mundane, it took us another year to implement this design, in the face of insufferable French contractors (phew!). The final interior design now allows touching the archeological massive beam with your hands.

Then we had to hunt for a bed and chair that were on stage during the first performance of Verdi's `La Traviata` in 1865 and order an exact reproduction for the studio. So you will be sleeping on a bed with history! Marie Duplessis lived within its 4 corners and received all the nobility of Paris (which explains the crown) she was a trend setter, a famous courtesan with great influence. When she died at the age of 23, Paris spoke of her for one week, which was significant for this city. She was the Marilyn of her time.

Before the onset of movies: a star. Alexandre Dumas (The 3 Mousketeers) wrote her story in `La Dame aux Camelia` and Verdi immortalized her in `La Traviata`.
